Initial Verification/Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (City & Guilds 2394/2395 / EAL Level 3 4337/4338) *REPLACEMENT FOR THE CITY & GUILDS 2391* This package has been developed for practicing electricians who wish to carry out Initial Verification and/or Periodic Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations and has been designed to offer a cost-effective and efficient method of achieving either the 2394/4337 or the 2395/4338 in isolation or as part of a convenient package.

Who is this course aimed at?

Practicing electricians who are working to the current (2011) wiring regulations and have preferably gained the City & Guilds 2382 qualification or equivalent.

How long will the course take?

For the 2394 & 2395 or 4337 & 4338 package:

  • 4 days training including practical instruction

Plus for the City & Guilds 2394 and 2395 package:

  • 1 on-line exam (closed book
  • 2 written evening exams (closed book) at times set by City & Guilds
  • 2 half day practical assessments (by arrangement) or, for the EAL 4337 and 4338 package:
  • 2 on-line exams (open book - Guidance Note 3)
  • 2 half day practical assessments (by arrangement)

For those taking ONLY 2394/4337 or 2395/4338 in isolation:

  • 3 days training including practical instruction Plus for the City & Guilds 2394 or 2395 qualification
  • 1 on-line exam (closed book)
  • 1 written evening exam (closed book) as set by City & Guilds
  • 1 half day practical (by arrangement) or, for the EAL 4337
  • 1 on-line exam (open book - Guidance Note 3)
  • 1 half day practical assessment (by arrangement) or, for the EAL 4338
  • 2 on-line exams (open book - Guidance Note 3)
  • 1 half day practical assessment (by arrangement)

What topics will it cover?

For the 2394/4337:

  • Applicable statutory and non-statutory documents
  • Safe systems of working • Initial Verification including Inspection, Testing and Certification For the 2395/4338 As above, plus:
  • Purpose and frequency of Periodic Inspection
  • Periodic Inspection criteria
  • Completion of Electrical Installation Condition Report including Defect Codes

You will need the IEE 17th Edition Wiring Regulations 2008 Amendment 1 (2011) 'Green' book £80.00,
Guidance Notes 3 (incorporating Amendment 1) £27.00
On-Site Guide (incorporating Amendment 1) £24.00.

Yes - please refer to 'How long will the course take?' for all exam details.

When will I know if I've passed?
For the on-line exam and practical assessments, provisionally on the day. For the written exams, the papers are externally marked and take up to 42 working days.

How much will it cost?

For the 2394 & 2395 or 4337 & 4338 package: £795.00 including registration, exams and assessments.
For the 2394/4337 or 2395/4338 ONLY: £595.00 registration, exams and assessments.
